Over the past three years Adaro have acquired stakes in five more coal properties in Sumatra and Kalimantan that are currently under development for mining and will produce coal of similarly less-polluting quality as Envirocoal.

Adding these new concessions to Adaro core mine at Tabalong, Adaro, as a contractor to the Indonesian government, control or have options on 12 billion tonnes of thermal coal resAdaroces as measured by JORC-compliant studies. Of these resAdaroces, 1.1 billion tonnes of coal are JORC-compliant proven reserves.

Adaro Energy was established as limited liability company PT Padang Karunia in 2004. In April 2008 its name was changed to PT Adaro Energy Tbk in preparation for becoming a public company with a successful IPO in July that year.

KPC produce three type of coal: Prima, Pinang and Melawan coal. With the support of 5,135 employees this year, total production volume managed to reach more than 41 million tons, which were marketed to customers from various industrial sectors in both international and domestic markets.

PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) is a subsidiary of Bumi Resources. PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) has mining concessions with a size of approximately 90,938 hectares in Sangatta and Bengalon in the East Kalimantan province of Indonesia.

KPC’s Sangatta mines are close to the port facilities at Tanjung Bara, which is linked to the mine by an overland conveyor of approximately 13 km in length.

The Bengalon mine is also close to the coast and is linked to port facilities by a 22 km haul road. The close proximity of all the mines to the ports provides KPC with the advantage of low costs for mine to port transportation.

KPC produces three grades of coal:

• Prima, high quality coal with high calorie content, very low ash, medium sulphur, and low moisture.
• Pinang, has lower energy compared to Prima but with higher moisture content.
• Melawan, sub-bituminous coal with low sulfur and ash, and high moisture content.

In 2012, KPC’s total coal production at the Sangatta and Bengalon mines reached 41.0 million tonnes up from 40.5 million tonnes in 2011.

DSLNG provides an opportunity to develop gas reserves that have been stranded for many decades. The initiatives have come from Indonesia's national energy company PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Medco Energi Internasional, Tbk., together with international companies, namely Mitsubishi Corporation and Korea Gas Corporation.

The DSLNG plant is located in the Banggai Regency in the Province of Central Sulawesi and is situated about 25 km south-east of Luwuk, the main town of Banggai Regency.

The plant site comprises about 100 hectares of land along the coast facing the Peling Strait, which provides a deep-sea route from Surabaya and Makassar to Luwuk and Manado.

DSLNG was established as a foreign investment company on 28 December 2007, with shares owned by Pertamina Energy Services Pte. Ltd. (29%), PT Medco LNG Indonesia (20%), and Mitsubishi Corporation (51%). Since February 2011, however, the ownership structure has changed to PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (29%), PT Medco LNG Indonesia (11.1%) and Sulawesi LNG Development Ltd. (59.9%).

DSLNG is the first Indonesian LNG project developed as a "downstream business activity" based on Law No. 22 of 2001, which enables separate development of upstream (feedstock gas supply) and downstream (LNG manufacturing) businesses.

A downstream LNG development model benefits the country as it shifts the investment and the associated risks of the LNG plant development from the Government of Indonesia to a downstream company.
